Additional costs to consider

Before conducting Mod 1 & Mod 2 of your practical test the Motorcycle theory test needs to be completed, the cost of £23 and can be booked via the Direct.gov website.

ENHANCED RIDER SCHEME.

How the scheme works:

You’ll first have a rider assessment with an expert trainer.

You’ll ride in different road and traffic conditions.

The ride will be long enough for your trainer to make a good assessment of your skills.

(for most people this is 1 to 2 hours)

If this shows you don’t need more training you’ll get a ‘DVSA certificate of competence’ straight away.

Otherwise, you’ll get personalised training to improve your skills and get the certificate at the end of your training.

Assessment is necessary to provide a price.

FAQ.

What do I need?

Whatever the weather, you must wear the correct clothing on the day.

- You need to wear long trousers (jeans are fine), and sturdy footwear (strong shoes or boots).
- Please – no tracksuit bottoms or trainers as these are not suitable for many reasons.
- We supply helmets, jackets, gloves and waterproof over-trousers if you do not already have your own. Waterproof clothing is strongly recommended, as your course will continue if it rains or not.
- If you normally wear glasses or contact lenses, you will need to bring them to read a registration plate at a minimum distance of 66 ft (20 metres).
- You will need to bring your UK licence (photocard), and you also need to know your National Insurance number. If you have an old style licence, you will need to bring a valid passport. The documents must be original, as photocopies are not accepted.

Please note:At any point throughout the training course the instructor may stop training and ask you to return another day. This could be for a variety of reasons. If this is the case the instructor will explain why he/she has chosen to do so and be available to give a full debrief and answer any questions. If you are requested to return, there will be a charge of £75 to cover the hire of the bike.
